Which Auto Body Repair Parts are More Expensive, Used Aftermarket Parts or New OEM Parts?
Auto body repair parts are normally quite expensive, whether you buy used parts from an aftermarket source or brand new Original Equipment Manufacturer parts from the local dealership. OEM parts from the dealer are more expensive, usually, because the manufacturer and usually the dealer both have to offset the cost of advertising, sales, overhead and many other costs that aftermarket vendors won’t usually have. Dealers and manufacturers want you to believe the factory parts will fit better and work longer, but the truth is, many times, they’re made in the same place as aftermarket parts. Normally, because the part has an OEM number, you’ll pay more for it.
