Which area of Edmonton is best for families?

Many areas are well suited for families. We moved here 4 years ago and found that the city is divided into different areas and most have their own Recreation Center that serves that area. For example I am in the Castle Downs area of town (North area) and we have numerous shopping malls as well as the Castle Downs YMCA with a pool, fitness factilies and youth programs. It’s attached to an arena and has plenty of park area around it with soccer (football) pitches and a water park. There are also plenty of grocery stores and medical centers/dentists around. Just about any area you move to will have similar services for the area. I’d stay away from any place down town if you have a family. It’s just not suited for families like yours. I’d also stay away from the Strathcona area (bars, shops and restaurants) as well as the Millwoods area. Millwoods looks like a nice area and it does have nice people and newer homes but it has a very high crime rate. Our real estate agent was a God send when
