I am looking at condos in the southside of Chicago since I’ll be working at UIC in the fall. I will be living with a roommate and we both have our own cars but will rely on public transportation most of the time especially during the week for work. I love hyde park since it is so diverse but I also like sotuh loop since it is closer to everything. Thanks! A: Both are relatively safe. If you’re truly in Hyde Park (as opposed to the bordering areas) you’ll be fine. The only downside is that you’d have to take the Green Line or the Red Line if you plan on taking the el and the areas where these train stops are are not so nice and you probably wouldn’t want to be walking home at night from the train. Busses are also an option, but I don’t think they are as convenient. Metra is a better option in Hyde Park but if you’re going to UIC it’s probably not ideal. So with that said, the South Loop is probably your best bet. It’s more expensive than Hyde Park and if you go really far south (like pa
