Which are the differents Transport Alternatives for an enterprise to adequate its business to the sustainable development?
Lean Mfg alternatives suggest a tighter, closer supply base. Also the future of distribution systems will go through some serious challenges. I wonder if we are entering a period of resurgence in ‘buy local’ vs. the large volumen distribution model. With the cost of transportation rising, people will be more likely to shop closer to home and pay more for the higher quality goods in small shops vs. the cheap abundant goods that are coming from overseas. I wonder if rail is an opportunity in your region of the world. But given the geopolitical problems between you and Asia, this may not be as cost effective as I might think?
