Which are the best months to visit Death Valley & Yosemite National Park?
The first time I went to that splendid place was for that event, and they had a fiddle contest in one place and a banjo contest in another, along with plenty of other stuff that was lots of fun. After October, it can be cold. The second time I went was over spring/Easter break (psychotic college, don’t ask) and the entire state got rain, including Death Valley. We built a snowman. Earlier might have been too cold. June-August would be too hot for many people but not for me. (The story’s told of an old miner whose mule was packing a load of popcorn for the hotel during August and it was so hot that the popcorn popped and the mule saw all the white fluffy kernels, thought it was snow, lay down in it, and froze to death.) On the other hand, The Perseid meteor shower just ended and the Leonid meteor shower is next and you do want to be in Death Valley then because the night sky view is full of awe.
