Which amp would be more versatile?

While I agree with those who have the opinion that you pay for the name when you get Marshall, you also know what you’re getting – I personally feel that the quality in the MG series is underrated and worthy of serious consideration. While I personally prefer the MG50 in terms of a combo, that way I get a better crunch at a more usable volume. The problem is that as you go up in wattage you have to turn it up a little louder to get that “cranked amp” sound, while I’m all about better tone at lower (and more usable) volumes, especially for recording. That said, if you’re going to be playing live with it, then a bit more wattage isn’t a bad thing – especially with only one speaker you’re going to have to turn it up a bit more to get the sound out there. My buddy plays the head version, the MG100HDFX that is, and he sounds great – he’s also rocking guitars that are equipped with high output pickups, ie two with EMGs and one with Seymour Duncan Blackouts. I feel that the tone does improve
