There are currently 15 member countries of the “Schengen” group, so named after the Luxembourgean town where the original 7 coutnry members of the group signed a treaty that removed internal border controls between their countries–thereby promoting free and easy access for its citizens to travel and conduct some forms of trade. The current members are: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain and Sweden.
