You need a modified BIOS in your Xbox. Most people will achieve this by using a modchip with its own flash on it. The choice then is to use a hacked native BIOS, which will allow unsigned programs to run, or to use the Xbox Linux Project’s Cromwell clean BIOS, which is only able to install and boot Linux, but does not contain any Microsoft code. It is also useful to have an USB keyboard and mouse connected.
