Which actor who played Star Treks Blind Officer was involved in a recent car accident?”
Yahoo! News is reporting that actor LeVar Burton of Roots fame has been involved in a car crash involving five vehicles in Los Angeles. Amazingly, nobody was seriously injured. We’re sure that many people will rush to make jokes about car crashes and the fact that Burton is best-known for his role as a blind character on Star Trek: The Next Generation (he wore that weird eye shade/visor thingy on the show). However, when we saw the actor’s name in print, the first thing we thought was: Dammit, now we’re going to have the catchy TV theme song from Burton’s classic kids’ show Reading Rainbow stuck in our heads all day. And now, you will, too. Original theme song above. Unnecessary new version (featuring Burton with a silly goatee and earring), below. Unlike former Star Trek stars William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, Burton has not made a dent in the music industry on his own.
Los Angeles police say actor LeVar Burton, 52, was involved in a five-car accident but wasn’t seriously injured after a crash Monday. Police said Burton, who was in “Roots,” “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and was the longtime host of “Reading Rainbow,” was driving his Mercedes about 7:40 p.m. when a 74-year-old woman turned left in front of him. The cars collided and Burton’s car hit a parked car, which damaged two other cars, police said.
