Which acne treatment is the best?
Honestly, no over the counter kit is going to work as well as a prescription med. You are probably better off going to a dermatologist and getting a prescription for Retin-A in whatever strength is appropriate for you. For really severe acne, an oral Accutane prescription with antibiotics is also prescribed. Also, certain types of birth control pill can help acne (Yasmin is one) even if you don’t want it for contraception.
So I have like SUPER serious acne on my forehead and chin so I went to a dermatologist. I think its better to go there because the dermatologist knows exactly what you need. Its expensive so I really suggest trying everything you asked about for a month or two. If none of them work then I highly suggest going to the derm. In just two weeks after going to the dermatologists and using his perscription I started seeing a MAJOR improvement. P.S. I take the pills. Its really low maintnance and works. Sometimes before my period I use Clearosil because it can get kind of bad.
I just started using Proactiv, and it really helped my skin. I used to have little pimples all over my forehead, chin and nose. Whenever I tried over the counter acne wash, my skin would get REALLY dry. Then I tried Proactiv, and paid a few extra dollars for the moisture kit. I love it. If I go a few days without using it, I start breaking out again. What did you hear about it being the worst thing you can do to your skin?? *EDIT*-In response to Morena’s comment- It is annoying that they send you a kit before you are done- that is a big negative. I’ve only had one kit, and my second one comes this week (you get it every 2 months) I think I will just call and tell them to hold a shipment if I end up with too much of it. Also it is really not that expensive. About $30 a month, and that is for the extra-moisture one, which has 2 lotions instead of one. So, I get cleanser, toner, moisture and extra SPF moisture delivered to my door for 30 bucks a month. Not bad.
