While I own many of both brands, I have to agree with scarface regarding battery life. Part of an issue I have is that the cost of a new battery is at least half the cost of the entire drill kit, although that makes sense since the drill is no more than a small boat anchor without a working battery. One thing to keep in mind however, is that both have similar or same components, manufactured in the same country, and branded in Yellow or Turquoise Blue. As one other states, Obviously both are decent products, and as another states, it largely depends on your use/intent. Another thing to consider is SERVICE. I have no clue about Makita, and I’m not talking about guarantee, but service locations, which Dewalt has all over the country. Finally, and certainly with no offense to anyone, the choice of a brand of tool, isn’t much different than ones personal opinions about Vehicle brands, Paint brands, Politics, and/or Religion.
