3/31/2002 H1-B Visas I retired from the US Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant in 1993 after 20 years of service. While in the USAF I performed duties in a high risk, special operations, pararescue position. When I left the USAF I had no real skill to translate into a decent civilian paying job. However, while in the service, I had taken several computer science classes, enjoying the challenges that programming and the associated analytical thinking provided me. So, on leaving the service I went on to obtain an computer technology degree at a local community college. After graduating in August of 1994 I was quickly hired by First Data Corporation (FDC) as an entry level programmer. I didn’t take this career change lightly.
