Following in the time honored tradition of marketing these toys for kids, Hasbro has stuck with the same established rules most manufacturers stick with, which is the belief that kids want good guys, and prefer male figures to females. This unspoken rule is often the source of much debate with collectors, but going by the track record of pretty much every manufacturer out there, it’s tough to deny some truths. Throughout Joe’s 20+ year history as a 3 3/4″ figure, there were only a handful of female characters produced in figure form, and that has held true to this day. Mattel, Toy Biz, Playmates, and most other manufacturers out there produce a very limited amount of female action figures for their respective lines. The belief about kids not wanting bad guys for their good guys to fight is tougher to stand behind, but I’m running under the assumption that there has been plenty of research done on this fact with a whole lot more resources than I, or any other collector posting on a m
