Where would the new bus priority lanes be incorporated in the route?
BRT would use additional running lanes in areas along the route where traffic currently builds up. Areas which get easily congested are known as traffic hotspots, and where these traffic hotspots are identified it is hoped BRT would use additional running lanes. This is of key importance in the development of BRT. This would be the case along the Sheffield Parkway, which currently has high levels of congestion during the rush hour period. In areas where congestion is not an issue, BRT would be expected to run within the existing roads.
