Where will the students stay when in Cape Town and Johannesburg?
The students will be accommodated at high quality accommodation in the most well-known South African hotel chain: Protea Hotels. Last year SMRC stayed at Protea Hotel President in Cape Town and Protea Hotel Waterfront while in Johannesburg. Health and hygiene concerns 1. Cold running water may be available in the house or at a pump several blocks away. Is this water for cooking and washing self and dishes safe to use? Any risk of parasites or other water borne diseases from the local water supply? There is no risk of parasites or other water borne diseases from the local water supply. Filtered water will be available to students at two locations in a close proximity of their homestays to drink. Bathing, washing dishes and clothes, and cooking will be done with the water supply from the local tap. This water is safe for all these activities and is potable as well.
