Best efforts were made to allow torchbearers to carry the flame within or near their communities. When those nominated accepted the invitation to be Olympic Torchbearers they agreed to take full responsibility to travel to their assigned location on the day they will carry the flame. In some cases the assignment may not be within their communities.
