Where were you during the “summer of love” and the golden age of UK old skool h-core?
KK: During 1989 summer I was sitting on site in the country with my brother & a friend while our mums were out at work. Most days were spent listening to Public Enemy, NWA & Acid Trax, as well as draining fuel tanks to blow things up! Summers 1991/2 I spent a lot of time raving like everybody else at places like Castlemorton. Good times! FH: In 1991/2 I was still playing lead guitar in a metal band! Although I was reasonably familiar with rave music around that time, I was not what one would call a ‘raver’ that came a year or two later for me! RE: I was in England & going out raving most weekends the first rave I went to was a Fear Teachers party in summer 1991. What was the first techno track you recognized as techno? And what did you feel hearing that? FH: That’s quite a difficult one to pin point, but I think it was probably T99 – Anastasia or The Prodigy – Android.
