Where was the group of 77 formed during UNCTAD in 1964?
The “group of 77” was created on June 15, 1964 by developing countries at the end of first session of UNCTAD. It is a coalition of Third World countries in the United Nations, providing means for the developing world to articulate and promote its collective economic interests by seventy-seven developing countries signatories of the “Joint Declaration of the Seventy-seven Countries” issued at (UNCTAD) in Geneva. It is the principle aim is to provide the means for the Developing World to articulate and promote its collective economic interests and enhance its joint negotiating capacity on all major international economic issues in the United Nations system and promote economic and technical cooperation among Developing Countries.
