Rodriguez died on Sunday night, two days after his super bantamweight title fight with boxer Teon Kennedy. According to fight promoter J. Russell Peltz, Francisco Rodriguez began losing consciousness after his fight with Kennedy was stopped in the 10th round. Rodriguez was sent to hospital where doctors performed emergency brain surgery. Sadly, Francisco Rodriguez never regained consciousness. He was 25. Not surprisingly, some are questioning whether the Francisco Rodriguez-Teon Kennedy fight should have been ended sooner. Peltz, however, said that he wasn’t aware of any signs that the fight would lead to such a tragedy.
