Where was born Saint Patrick? Was he a Scot or an Irish?
Patrick was born at Banna Venta Berniae (near Carlisle, a city in the extreme northwest of England, some 10 miles (16 km) from the border with Scotland.) When he was about sixteen he was captured by Irish raiders and taken as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six years before escaping and return to his family.
