Where to Grow Azalea Japonica?
Japanese azaleas are very popular features of gardens. In their home climate they grow to relatively substantial shrubs, as opposed to limited sizes in our continental, dry climate. Eventual height and spread of Azalea japonica is 90cm by 70cm if left un-pruned. The picturesque blossom of azalea japonica is a good wildlife attractant for your garden. Japanese azaleas do not like direct sun; they prefer diffused sunlight or semi-shade. Provide Azalea japonica with moist, acidic soil with humus so that they do not loose leaves and bloom heavily every year. They are fully hardy to about -29°C. Azaleas have shallow roots, so do not plant them too deep.
