Where to grow a Hydrangea?

This may depend on how hot your summers are. Here in Oklahoma, Zone 7, hydrangeas need part sun/part shade. They do not like blistering afternoon sun. Right now our afternoon highs are close to 100 degrees. Hydrangeas do not like direct sun that is over 90 degrees. I bought a “Forever and Ever” hydrangea and almost lost it last year due to too much sun. I had to move it to a shadier area and it is doing well so far. If you aren’t sure, plant your hydrangea to get morning sun and afternoon shade. Be sure to mulch it well and water it frequently until it’s well-established. Hydrangeas are beautiful and can be blue, pink, or green depending on the pH of your soil.
