Where to get evergreen plants in my garden?
Evergreen plants are great for putting the “bones” in your garden. That is the structure that you can build everything else around. Take a good look at your house. Note where there are large, blank vertical spaces that could use a little adornment. Long expanses of bare walls are boring, and need a little window dressing. You will want to select plants that can fill in but not overwhelm these spaces. Arborvitae are good where you need a tall accent, and boxwoods, azaleas, pieris, rhododendron, holly and yew are all good selections for lower hedges and accents. Get a good mix of pyramidal, barrel, round and vertical shapes in more formal settings. For cottage gardens, keep in mind that for part of the year most of the showy flowers will be dormant, and you will appreciate the backdrop tthe evergreens provide to keep the house from looking barren.
