The best thing to do when buying gear is to get it in person from a shop, a specialty shop, not simply a sporting goods store such as Sports Authority or D i c k s, because the people that work in sporting goods stores are not generally very knowledgeable, and will try to sell you the most expensive board there, regardless of quality. An employee at a snowboard shop is more likely to actually be able to help you find a good board/binding/boot/helmet/goggle, simply because by working in a specialty shop, they can afford to focus on only a couple of sports, in stead of a hundred. Buying equipment online is usually not a great idea either unless you know exactly what you want. When you buy something like a snowboard, you want to be able to look at it and feel it, to really know that it’s the right board for you.
