Where a GP not involved in the Panels Initiative is already providing services in aged care facilities, it is acceptable for Divisions to engage this GP under the Panels Initiative on a retainer payment basis. In these circumstances, it is recommended that a greater commitment from the GP to provide services is negotiated. For example, where a GP is available 2 days a week for after hours services, under Panel arrangements the GP may undertake to be available three days a week.
