Be patient. The IRS receiving department processes payments immediately, but the tax returns are sent to the return processing department where everything enters a conveyor belt of sorts – the data is entered into the computer, minor errors are corrected – returns with refunds due are sent to the refund department – returns with major errors are sent to the error department – returns with penalties are sent to the penalty department – then once the IRS is done with the return, they analyze the return for the rebate qualifications, and then send that data over to the social security administration who are the ones actually issuing the rebate checks. If you mailed in your return, then it could tax 6-8 weeks to actually process your tax return – then another two weeks to process your rebate – so you may be looking at July before you see the rebate. Remember, the IRS is processing millions of returns, payments, refunds and rebates, so everything takes time. The IRS will not know anything a
