Where should the solar collector be installed?
The collector should be installed in an un-shaded area. We would access the area prior to installing the collector and determine the best location. Keep in mind that the location should be clear of any shade caused by neighboring buildings or trees. In the winter the shadows are longer due to the low position of the sun. The collector should face anywhere in between south-west and south-east in order to absorb the maximum amount of sunlight. How it works 1. How does a solar domestic hot water system work? A solar domestic hot water system works in two phases. First, solar energy is captured and converted into heat. This is done by the solar collector. Thermal fluid, which resists freezing, is pumped into the collector where it absorbs the heat. The second phase occurs in the heat exchanger tank where the thermal fluid exchanges its heat to the water in the tank. Thus, the water in the tank is heated and sent to the current heating system. 2. Does a solar domestic hot water system freez
