Where should the 3rd ply of BID on the fuselage bottom be placed and how large should it be?
The 3rd BID layer is to provide extra strength and scuff protection in the areas where the rear passengers will stand when entering and exiting the plane. In general, the 3rd layer can cover from the aft edge of where the seatback will be to all the way aft. Some builders only apply the 3rd layer from the seatback brace aft. Orientation does not really matter, but a 45-degree orientation to the fuselage centerline is probably best. 6.8 – Remember to check that the aft landing-gear bulkhead is attached the right way! The aft landing-gear bulkhead has an 8-ply-buildup on the front side. Remember to flox the bulkhead in place with the plies facing forward – not backwards!
