Where should I search for tax and judgment liens & litigation?
Tax and judgment liens, county level filings (fixture filings) and litigation are beyond the scope of Article 9, and still require searching for those filings under separate procedures. Federal liens (IRS, EPA, etc) are filed differently in each state. In some states they are available from the same central filing office as UCCs, while in other states they are only recorded at the local (county or city) level. UCC fixture filings are filed in the county where the collateral is attached to a specific piece of property. Litigation can be search at the local level (county) or at the federal level (US District Court).
