Where is Yemen Going?
INTRODUCTION First: To our people at home and abroad, estranged or exiled, rulers and ruled! As our people prepare to celebrate the eighth anniversary of the Union, their minds echo the sceptical verse: What a festivity recurring on such bleak moments Is it to resume old calamities or bring renewal? But crushed by deteriorating living standards, the vast majority of them reiterate what the folklore verse laments, O Festival, recurring when I am broke What shall I call you, the Festival of Ashes There are few optimists, among whom I hope to count myself, who still believe there is a chance to establish the foundations of an enduring Union, security, stability, and economic development.
