Where Is Westmorland County, England?
Westmorland (Westmoreland or Westmerland) is a county in northwest of England. The county is now incorporated into Cumbria. Northumberland, Durhum County, North Yorkshire, Lancanshire, Roxburgh, Ettrick (Scotland), Lauderdale (Scotland) and Lieutenancy areas of Dumfries skirt the county of Cumbria. It was created in 1889 and was terminated as a county in the year 1974. The some areas of the abolished county were placed with Cumberland, Lancanshire and Yorkshire. Westmorland stretched over an area of 485,990 acres. In 1961, it had an area of 504,917 acres. According to the figures available, it held a population of 72,865 in1971. Westmorland since its formation did not posses any county boroughs. Then the administrative council was formed at Kendal. The earlier Barony of Kendal which is now a part of South Lakeland forms a part of the parliamentary constituency of Westmorland and Lonsdale.
