Ok there may be some weird place names in Germany but there is definitely no way that a place would be named Haflgannifpan. You said you got the name from old German writing. Keep in mind that the “s” very much looks like an “f” in old German “Fraktur” printing. Hasl… would make more sense as this means “hare” in some dialects. But I would assume that you also got some letters wrong in the …gannipan part. So I’d say check the spelling again, but if it’s an old “Sütterlin” handwriting you’re in deep trouble as even in Germany only a few older people are still familiar with it.
