Where is the worlds largest active volcano?
Researches have shown that the largest single mud volcano in the world is in Caspian Sea, north of Iran. Jupiter’s moon Io is the most volcanically active object in the solar system because of tidal interaction with Jupiter. It is covered with volcanoes that erupt sulfur, sulfur dioxide and silicate rock, and as a result, Io is constantly being resurfaced. Its lavas are the hottest known anywhere in the solar system, with temperatures exceeding 1,800 K (1,500 °C). In February 2001, the largest recorded volcanic eruptions in the solar system occurred on Io. The are different ideas about the largest one on Earth. Some believe it is in Sicily and some believe it is in Hawaii. The difference comes from different points of view. Some believe as the Hawaian one is very young it should be the largest while some believe the one in Sicily is the largest just because it has been active for 3000 years. Also, Yellowstone Supervolcano in Yellowstone National Park in USA shouldn’t be omitted. To be
It is indeed Yellowstone in Colorado – The whole park is a volcano. Apparently is explodes every 60,000 years or so and it hasn’t exploded in around that time, so scientists (not just scientists to be fair – the whole world) are waiting for the next one. Let’s hope it doesn’t happen too soon because when it does it will have the capacity to wipe out millions upon millions of people. Merry Christmas!

From its base below sea level to its summit, Mauna Loa is taller than Mount Everest. — From: Tilling, 1985, Volcanoes: USGS General Interest Publication, and Brantley, 1994, Volcanoes of the United States: USGS General Interest Publication.
