Where is the USG in the budget process?
The governor submitted his FY2011 budget proposal to the legislature in January, recommending a $265 million reduction from the entire USG budget. In response to a recent request from the Joint Appropriations Higher Education Subcommittee of the Georgia General Assembly, Georgia Tech joined the 34 other USG colleges and universities in developing a proposed budget for the upcoming fiscal year (that begins July 1, 2010) based on a directive that the USG devise a plan with extraordinary cuts of $565 million — $300 million more than the governor’s proposal.
