Where is the UDairy Creamery?
Currently the UDairy Creamery operates without a physical location. Milk from the UDairy Farm is shipped to Hy-Point Dairy in Wilmington, Delaware who arranges for the milk to be made into premium ice cream by Byrne Dairy in New York. In the spring of 2010, UD broke ground on a store-front/shop for the sale of UD ice cream and other agricultural products (i.e. blankets made with wool from UD sheep, vegetables grown in student gardens, honey from UDs apiary). This building, slated to open during the 2010-2011 school year, will also house an ice cream manufacturing facility so ice cream can be processed on site. The UDairy Creamery will be located on south campus in between Townsend Hall (Map) and the Fred Rust Ice Arena. Because the creamery is an integral part of the UD dairy farm, and the teaching and research programs in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, this location will allow students and faculty to have easy access to be able to participate in all of the stages of
