Where is the thermostat on a 2005 Subaru Forester XT?
Assuming that not much has changed since my 2000 Forester, the thermostat for the cooling system is located at the point where the lower radiator hose connects to the engine. After you remove the splash pan from the inderside of the car it is easy to get to and takes just a 10 mm socket and 2 screws to remove. Drain the coolant first otherwise most of it will come out on you when you remove the thermostat.
