No, form my eperience (replacing that sucker) the thermostat on the 1996 nissan quest is on the left side of the engine, where your drive belts are located. in order to access it first you have to take off your serpentine belts. then you have to take off the upper and lower timing belt covers. the thermostat housing is directly above and slightly behind the water pump.
