This is the first time the championship, which includes golfers from 14 Harris Teeter Senior Amateur Tours across the East Coast, will be contested on Hilton Head Island. The eight previous tour championships were held in the Pinehurst region of North Carolina. “We’re excited to move the championship to a new market,” said tour president Dennis McCormac. “We’ve worked with Port Royal before and it’s a natural fit for our tour finals. Plus, they have a brand new clubhouse which will be used extensively during the tournament.” A field of about 200 competitors is expected to tee it up on the Robber’s Row and Planter’s Row courses at Port Royal during this 36-hole stroke-play championship. In 2nd place was former U.S Masters Golf Championship winner Lary Mize (67), two strokes back on -4, 276.
