Although its not apparent from the NOA and PAL versions of the game, the Golden Land and the Sacred Realm are the very same thing, since they are both called seichi in Japanese, which can be translated as Holy Grounds or Sacred Region. However, the question on the nature of the Sacred Realm is much more complicated. The Sacred Realm is apparently a separate dimension to Hyrule, connected to it through the portals in the temples. The properties of this world are very different from those of Hyrule: it is a mirror that reflects the heart of those entering in it. However, according to the Great Deku Tree, the Sacred Realm was the place from where the goddesses departed to the heavens, so it had to be a place in the same physical dimension as Hyrule.
