Where is the oil drain on a 1999 harley davidson sportster?
Only drain oil on a warm bike as the Sportster’s are a dry sump oil system. It is possible for oil to leak down into the case after sitting for a long time. By running a bike for a few miles first, it puts all the oil back into the oil tank, therefore leaving a minimal amount in the case. The amount in the case is not enought to worry about. Drain the oil, change the filter, start the bike, check for leaks and ride!
