Where is the Oakland Police Shoot unarmed black man?
An Alameda County Superior Court Judge, Don Clay, ordered a former transit cop, Johannes Mehserle, to stand trial for the murder of an unarmed man on a train platform last New Year’s Eve. Judge Clay said there is substantial evidence to present to a jury that could potentially lead to Mehserle being charged with the murder of Oscar Grant. According to the Associated Press, Mehserle and two other officers had apprehended Grant and four of his friends at Fruitvale Station for allegedly fighting on a train when the shooting occurred. Oakland residents were outraged and rioted the streets of the east bay when video footage was aired showing Grant in police custody and lying face down on the transit platform when Mehserle, 27, drew his weapon and shot him in the back. The former officer’s defense attorney argued Mehserle was reaching for his Taser gun but mistakenly grabbed his fire arm when he shot the young man. After a seven-day preliminary hearing, the judge concluded, “There is no doub
