WHERE IS THE NEAREST HARDWARE STORE?
I am losing more than a good neighbor; I am losing a hardware store, a lumber mill, a plumbing supply store, electrical things, paints, brushes, mops, brooms, garden equipment, batteries, drills, tools and most importantly a nail, or a screw or just plain wood glue. For 34 years anytime I needed anything listed above for the restaurant I would walk next door to Blaisdell Lumber Yard. For years I knew and respected Frank Blaisdell who was the second generation owner of the yard. His son Bruce has been running the business for about the last 15 years and has been a good friend and neighbor. After 90 years this third generation business man is closing the doors to make way for the new Two River Theater. The entire area is changing and we all believe it is for the better. HOWEVER, now every time I need any of the above “stuff” where do I drive to, am I stuck driving to Home Depot or Lowe’s for nails, tape etc.? Do I make a list of things we need and make one run “into town to get supplies
