For holidays outside the UK, the most popular holiday destination for British people is Spain, which has been the favourite holiday destination for British people since 1994. Mainland parts of Spain which are popular with the British tourists include the Costa del Sol in the South, the Costa Blanca, and the trendy city of Barcelona. Not only are British people attracted to the mainland of Spain, but the Spanish islands of Majorca, Ibiza and Menorca have proved popular with the British tourists for a number of years. Of particular appeal to the young is the Spanish island of Ibiza which has become popular for the clubbing scene, with nightclubs such as Amnesia attracting those who enjoy the dance and music scene from all across Europe. The Costa del Sol is popular with British people in the wintertime, because they can escape the dull English winter months and enjoy sunshine at Christmas and New Year.
