Where is the Lost City of Gold?
The “City of Gold” really represents a form of lottery. Everybody would like to find the pot of gold, the hidden treasure. To put it another way, everybody (well, almost everybody) would like to get a lot for little output. So we buy lottery tickets today…but before there was the lottery, there was the hidden treasure, the fabled elephant burial grounds (tons of ivory), cities of gold, sunken ships laden with treasure, and so forth. Look at the allure of gambling. The lost city is in most people’s imagination, but it has a definite place and we all dream of it at one time or another…in one form or another.
