Where is the knock sensor on a 1996 nissan quest?
You have a long hard road infront of you. The knock sensor on the 1996 nissan quest is located on the right side of the engine block, under the top manifold. In order to get to it to replace it you have to take the manifold off. This information I learned form the “haynes manual”. The way to do this is to first relaese the fuel pressure by disconnecting the fuel pump relay and turning the car on. It should run for a few seconds then shut off. then you need to take all of the accessories off the rear firewall side of the engine block. Then you use a allen style wrench to take off the bolts holding the manifold on. then you can reach the knock sensor retaining bolt ( Yes you go through all of the aformentioned work to take off one lousey bolt!), then change the knock sensor. Then you put a new manifold gasket on and put the manifold back on making sure to tighten all bolts. then you put the spark plugs back in, using a torque wrench. then put the plug wires on and all of the accessories
