Where is the Jeffersonian Institute?

There is a FICTIONAL Jeffersonian Institute on the Fox show “Bones.” It has anthropologists and supporting technical people who investigate crimes using their research techniques (along with an FBI guy who does his regular thing). Their main character (a woman) is called Bones and the backups are sometimes called “squints” by the FBI guy. It is really quite an interesting show, I think. Their Jeffersonian Institute seems to be modeled on the Smithsonian (duh!) and is based in Washington, D.C.
