The event log viewer application can be opened in a number of ways: • In the Administrative Tools folder which is inside of Control Panel • In Administrative Tools from the Start – Programs menu (Note: only on a Server machine) • If you right-click My Computer on the desktop and select manage. Then under the node System Tools you will see Event Viewer. • By creating a custom Microsoft Management Console (MMC) • At the Start – Run dialog type in MMC and press OK. • In the window that comes up select the menu item called Console. • Then select Add/Remove snap-in. • Click the Add… button • In the Add Standalone Snap-In dialog select Event Viewer and click the Add button. • You can now select if the Event Viewer is going to be for the local computer or another computer. Select your option and then press Finish. • Click Close to close the dialog. • Click OK to close the Add/Remove snap-in dialog. You now have a new Microsoft Management Console with the event viewer.
