Where is the Best Yoga in Portland, Oregon?
Ive been to this studio several times and have been practicing yoga (at different studios) for years. The heat makes this vinyasa yoga very challenging. If youre used to the heat the classes seem a little repetitive. The only complaint I have is that all of the instructors give basically the same routine with little variation, new poses are rarely introduced. If you go often enough you start to realize this. I practiced here for a while and then went to a different studio (in another state) where every instructor offered something profoundly challenging, mentally and physically, with more varied practices while still focusing on specific poses. I was always interested in what I would learn next. When I came back to Core Power in NW I felt unchallenged except for by the heat! Otherwise a great place to get a deep vinyasa workout. Definitely detoxifying and your heart rate goes waaaaay up. Cons – repetitive
I love this place! Every time I go to the Yoga Shala (NE) I feel noticibly good and centered all day and beyond. I like the classes offered (especially Kirpalu and Vinyasa). Char and Sarah are wonderful teachers! The classes are lead in a relaxed, listen to your body way. The people who go to the Shala are kind and nice too! It’s also an easy, wonderful place to be a beginner. I took a friend there for her first yoga experience ever and she loved it and did not feel intimidated. The Level 1 and 2 classes are great if you are a beginner or prefer a slower, more relaxed energy class. We are lucky to have such a comprehensive, thoughtful and nurturing yoga center in Portland (2 actually-NE and SE)! Check out the website and go!
