Where is the Best Yoga in Durham, North Carolina?
In 30 years of playing sports, fitness training and working out this is the best and most efficient workout I have ever found for strength, overall fitness and body shaping. If you have never done kettlebells you really have to try them with these instructors. Betsy (the owner), Kevin and the others are highly trained, encouraging and motivating and the setting is akin to small group personal training. I do them just twice a week for an hour each and after 4 months the improvement in strength, functionality and body shape is well beyond anything I have ever experienced from years of traditional gym membership. I also don’t get bored like I did at the gym. It’s a great workout for anyone – female, male, older, younger, fit, not fit, as well as people rehabbing from injuries or trying to prevent new ones.Make an investment in yourself and do it.Pros + Amazing workout; highly skilled, encouraging instructorsCons – Costs a little more than some traditional gyms, but worth it
I just moved to the area and tried out the three studios in Chapel Hill/Carrboro. Franklin Street Yoga stands out for consistency – great classes and terrific teachers. The environment is welcoming and very relaxed not snobby and uptight at all. The studio is absolutely breathtaking. You can really lose yourself here and find inner bliss. I have never taken a bad class there – every class helps me find my edge at my own pace and the teachers are insightful and uplifting. You will leave with a joyful feeling and a light heart. Pros + Onsight parking, outstanding teachers, inspiring classesCons – Might want to reconsider free water bottles and get a cooler
I have tried a trainer at the local gym…not motivating enough. Then I tried Curves…too boring and repetitive. Recently I tried a kettlebell class with a friend and injured my low back and couldn’t even see patients for 2 days. Then after talking with some of the other Duke physicians, I called Brian. What an exhilarating change! He wasn’t overly egotistic like the kettlebell guy, he was a much better inspiration then the other trainer at the local gym, and mixed up the exercises to keep it exciting! Look no farther – this guy is the best! What really impressed me was how thorough the evaluation was, he looked at all my medical history, diet, and exercise background. After watching me go through several movements, he came up with a plan. Granted, he still adds the occasional kettlebell exercise, ugh, but he goes over the movement and will adjust if necessary. He also adds other forms of resistance to give a much more well rounded workout then anything I have ever experienced! We foc
