I’ve been going to Lloyd for a few months now and I really have no complaints. There is definitely more diversity here than at any other gym I’ve gone to in the area, which is very cool. They have all…

I have worked out at Geometry for the past three years. I have been in Pilates for the past 7 years, but never with the same results that I have experienced at Geometry. At Geometry I now have firm arms (NOT EVEN AS A TEEN) and I am two sizes smaller in pants and skirts WITHOUT dropping more than a couple of pounds. Friends and relatives always ask me if I’ve been dieting, but no I work out 2x a week at Geometry. What is the difference or why is Geometry such a great place to work out. The instructors are well trained. They are able to adapt your workout to you. I’ve worked out with those with troubled pregnancies or injuries and the instructors at Geometry work hard at modifying their workout while paying attention to my own to ensure that I’m doing it properly. The instructors are flexible and continue to update their own training and education on a regular basis. They are very good at accomodating to your schedule and needs as much as possible. They really focus not only

I have been attending this gym for two months now and I am so grateful to myself for finding the courage to check it out. When visiting PDX I found an info card about the gym and thought it was a great idea, then I watched their video on the web site and was even more inspired…but scared that I wouldn’t be fit enough to join in. It took me 3 months once I moved to Portland, to check it out.In early November, right before my birthday, I met with the owner Tina (she and her husband own the gym) to talk about doing a couple private sessions before taking the classes – I was unable to make the Foundations Class which I hear is a great way to start. I did a total of 4 privates with Tina who was totally not trying to sell me more private sessions, or get me to purchase a pack of classes. In fact, each time we met I had to remind her that I needed to pay her. I got the sense that she was doing this because she loved it and that the business was doing well – she didnt need to beg for m

I first heard about Barre 3 from one of my friends who is an instructor at the studio. She encouraged me to take classes, and see how I liked the format, perhaps one day to become an instructor myself. I wasn’t sure if the class would be a challenge, and I figured I would be an advanced client since I work out daily. BOY WAS I WRONG. THIS CLASS KICKED MY BUTT IN THE BEST WAY! I instantly fell in love with classes, and dropped my 24hr membership. 3 months later, I am in training to be an instructor, already teaching mock classes each week. This is an astounding method that is completely about balance in form, shape, strength, and self. What you learn here carries you throughout the day. And the owner, Sadie, is so committed to helping clients see results.True, it can be pricey, but fortunately there are ALWAYS free classes going on. Whether it be trainees such as myself giving free mock classes, or free classes at LuluLemon in the pearl, there’s always a chance to save your

Exercising is not my favorite activity and I’m not that athletic, but I am a complete fan of Studio X. The space is intimate, well-designed, very user friendly and close-in to downtown Portland. It is such a pleasure to work out in a quiet, private and focused space. But the real gem of this gym is the owner, Tim Irwin. I first began working with Tim after I fell while running on a trail and fractured my upper arm in eight places. The orthopedist warned me that if I did not do a rigorous program of physical therapy I could develop “frozen shoulder” and lose as much as 25% of my range of motion. Traditional physical therapy worked for the first few weeks after the injury, but progress quickly stalled. I went to see Tim and he designed a program for me to do both in-studio and at home to work gently but steadily to increase my range of motion without causing undue pain or risk. His plan was extremely effective and, despite the fact that I am in my 50’s, I have hadly any loss of r
